Terms of Service

Effective date: February 7, 2026

Agreement Overview

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Aura Wallet mobile application, its associated website, and any related support channels (collectively, the “Service”). The Service is operated by Aura (“Aura,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

Aura is a privacy-first, self-custody Bitcoin wallet. It is designed to give you full control over your Bitcoin without requiring personal information, account creation, or trust in a third party to hold your funds.

By downloading, installing, or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

About the Service

Aura is built on the following principles. Understanding them is essential to using the Service responsibly:

  • Self-custody and non-custodial. Aura does not hold, manage, or have access to your Bitcoin. You retain full and exclusive control of your funds at all times. Your private keys and recovery phrase are generated and stored solely on your device.
  • No accounts or registration. You can use Aura without creating an account, providing an email address, or signing in. There is no identity-based user database.
  • Pseudonymous by design. Aura does not link your real-world identity to your wallet activity. All wallet data is stored locally on your device.
  • Open-source. The Aura codebase is publicly available for review, audit, and independent verification. Transparency is central to our approach.
  • Software tool, not a financial institution. Aura is a tool that helps you manage wallet access and interact with the Bitcoin network. It is not a bank, broker, exchange, money transmitter, or financial advisor.

User Responsibilities

Because Aura is a self-custody wallet with no data collection and no server-side storage, you bear sole responsibility for:

  • Securing your keys. Your recovery phrase (seed phrase) and private keys are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to Aura or any third party. You are responsible for keeping them safe.
  • Confirming every transaction. You must verify the recipient address, amount, and network fees before broadcasting any transaction. Errors cannot be reversed.
  • Maintaining backups. You should store your recovery phrase in a secure, offline location. Without it, lost access to your device means permanent loss of funds.
  • Device security. Protecting your device, screen lock, and any enabled biometric authentication is your responsibility.
  • Compliance with laws. You are responsible for ensuring your use of the Service complies with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction.

If you lose your recovery phrase or private keys, neither Aura nor anyone else can recover them. You may permanently lose access to your Bitcoin. There is no backdoor, no server-side backup, and no recovery mechanism.

The Bitcoin Network

You acknowledge and accept the following:

  • Irreversible transactions. Bitcoin transactions are generally irreversible once confirmed on the blockchain. Aura cannot reverse, cancel, or modify any confirmed transaction.
  • Public ledger. Transactions are recorded on a public blockchain. Transaction amounts, addresses, and timestamps may be visible to anyone. While Aura is pseudonymous, on-chain data is inherently public.
  • Network fees. Sending Bitcoin requires paying network (miner) fees. Fee rates fluctuate based on network conditions and are not controlled by Aura.
  • Confirmation times. Transaction confirmation speed depends on the Bitcoin network and is outside our control.
  • No network control. Aura does not operate, control, or influence the Bitcoin network in any way.

Service Availability

We may modify, update, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part of it) at any time, including for security patches, maintenance, regulatory compliance, or product improvement. Some updates may take effect immediately when necessary to protect users or the integrity of the Service.

Because Aura stores all data locally on your device, discontinuation of the Service does not affect your ability to access your Bitcoin. Your recovery phrase works with any compatible BIP-standard wallet, ensuring you are never locked into a single application.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the Service. Temporary outages may occur for maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.

External Services

The Service may connect to or display information from third-party services, including but not limited to:

  • Bitcoin nodes and network peers
  • Block explorers
  • Fee-estimation providers
  • Exchange rate data sources

These third-party services are not operated or controlled by Aura. Your interaction with them is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their availability, accuracy, content, or any disruptions they may experience. Links to external resources are provided for convenience and do not imply endorsement.

Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful activity, including fraud, money laundering, terrorist financing, or violation of applicable sanctions or regulations.
  • Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or compromise the security or functionality of the Service.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any proprietary (non-open-source) portion of the Service, except as permitted by applicable law.
  • Use the Service to harm others, including through phishing, impersonation, social engineering, or malware distribution.
  • Misrepresent your affiliation with Aura or the Aura project.
  • Use the Service in any way that could damage, overburden, or impair the Bitcoin network or any connected infrastructure.

Ownership and Licensing

The Aura name, branding, logo, visual design, and proprietary content are owned by Aura, except for third-party or open-source components included in the Service.

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for its intended purpose, subject to these Terms.

Significant portions of the Aura codebase are released under open-source licenses. Those open-source components are governed by their respective licenses, which may grant you additional rights such as the ability to inspect, modify, and redistribute the code. Where a conflict exists between these Terms and an applicable open-source license, the open-source license prevails with respect to the relevant component.

No Warranties

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Aura expressly disclaims all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Without limiting the foregoing, we do not warrant that:

  • The Service will operate without interruption, errors, or security vulnerabilities.
  • Blockchain confirmations, fee estimates, or network performance will meet your expectations, as these depend on the Bitcoin network and third-party infrastructure.
  • The Service will be compatible with all devices, operating systems, or configurations.
  • Any information displayed within the Service will be accurate, complete, or current at all times.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Aura, its officers, directors, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for:

  • Loss of funds resulting from lost or compromised recovery phrases, private keys, or device access.
  • Loss of funds due to user error, including sending Bitcoin to incorrect addresses.
  • Losses arising from unauthorized access to your device.
  • Delays, congestion, fee volatility, or any other conditions on the Bitcoin network.
  • Failures, inaccuracies, or unavailability of third-party services.
  • Fluctuations in Bitcoin value or any financial losses related to market conditions.
  • Any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages of any kind, regardless of the theory of liability.

Where liability cannot be fully excluded under applicable law, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us for the Service in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or fifty U.S. dollars (USD $50.00), whichever is greater.

Not Financial Advice

Nothing in the Service or provided by Aura constitutes financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. Any information displayed within the Service, including exchange rates, fee estimates, and transaction data, is provided for general informational purposes only and should not be construed as a recommendation to buy, sell, hold, or otherwise transact in any asset.

You are solely responsible for your own financial decisions. Consult qualified professionals for advice tailored to your individual circumstances.

Your Privacy

Aura is designed with a no-data-collection approach. All wallet data, keys, and transaction history are stored locally on your device. Our complete information-handling practices are described in our Privacy Policy . By using the Service, you also agree to the Privacy Policy.

Ending Use

You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the application. Because Aura is non-custodial with local-only storage, your Bitcoin remains accessible through your recovery phrase with any compatible wallet even after you stop using Aura.

We may restrict or terminate your access to the Service if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, or if necessary to protect the security of the Service, other users, or to comply with legal obligations. Termination does not affect your ownership of or access to your Bitcoin through your recovery phrase.

Applicable Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You agree that any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved exclusively in the competent courts located in Mandalay, Myanmar, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
